RED Series

The RED Series expands Shamel Pitts’ vision into bold, collective expressions of vulnerability and connection. Its latest work, Touch of RED, premiered in 2022 and has since toured major U.S. cities—including New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Iowa City, and Minneapolis—to sold-out audiences.

Currently, TRIBE is developing its largest creation yet: Marks of RED

Featuring a cast of six female performers, this groundbreaking new work is scheduled to premiere in 2026 at Northrop and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, followed by performances at ICA Boston

Through the RED Series, TRIBE continues to build transformative performance experiences that invite intimacy, inspiration, and shared discovery.

BLACK Series

BLACK Series is a collection of deeply personal works created by Shamel Pitts at the start of his choreographic journey, from 2015-2018.

These works trace the beginnings of TRIBE, marking the powerful encounters between Pitts and collaborators Mirelle Martins, Lucca Del Carlo, Tushrik Fredericks, and other essential founding members.

Rooted in intimacy and discovery, the award-winning BLACK Series laid the foundation for TRIBE’s ongoing exploration of multidisciplinary live performances and collective exploration.

ART INSTALLATION

Performance Art Incubator: Solace of RED

From 2020 to 2025, TRIBE developed Solace of RED, a live performance art incubator curated by Shamel Pitts with the participation of TRIBE artists Tushrik Fredericks, Ashley Pierre-Louis, Marcella Lewis, Lucca Del Carlo, and invited guest artists.

During five editions across the NY State, the program offered time, space, and resources for artists to collaborate and create original works that amplify their unique voices in live performance and art installation.

The result: three new live performance works and one art installation, all of which have since premiered and been shared with the public at JACK NYC, The Flea Theater, and The Pocantico Center.

Solace of RED affirms TRIBE’s commitment to cultivating discovery, experimentation, and community through art.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

TRIBE offers a variety of outreach projects, including movement workshops, lectures, artist talks, and Q&A sessions, to engage with communities where we perform.

We’ve had the privilege of being part of programming at leading universities, art institutions, and festivals both across the U.S. and internationally. Through these activities, we connect with students, dance enthusiasts, and professionals, sharing not only how we create our work but, most importantly, why we do it.
