BLACK HOLE researches and shares an odyssey where three Black performers create a trinity of vigor, Afrofuturism, and embrace. It is the third multidisciplinary live art work in Shamel Pitt’s “BLACK Series.”

BLACK VELVET is a dovetailing of texture, beauty, delicacy, and power within a poetics of being. A deeply reflective performance, it explores the colorfulness of Blackness—especially in regard to Black women—through a relationship of love, camaraderie, and compassion.

An enigmatic performance featuring a solo by Shamel Pitts. Buoyed by his trademark expressive movement, Pitts employs spoken word, evocative lighting, and video to construct a personal, poetic narrative about the search for identity and striving for survival amidst impermanence.
