
Eric Umble (he/they) is a passionate fundraiser, community-builder, and arts administrator whose drive is fueled by his experiences as a freelance artist. During Eric’s time as Director of Development at the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), Roulette Intermedium, and as Development & Engagement Manager with The Knights, he oversaw numerous successful fundraising campaigns and contributed to the overall financial health and stability of all three organizations.
An award-winning clarinetist who champions experimental music, Eric has performed with the New York Philharmonic, ICE, the Orchestras of the Lucerne Festival Academy and Alumni, and appeared on stages worldwide notably, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Havana’s Casa de Las Américas, and the Oil Tank Culture Park in Seoul, South Korea. Eric is also a DJ, and party promoter. As founder, lead producer, curator, and resident artist of the FACETIME and QUALITY TIME parties, Eric is a regular presence on the New York scene and regionally. They have DJ’ed at New York’s finest clubs including BASEMENT and Nowadays, the Orange Room in Detroit, and he was a 2024 resident artist at Brooklyn’s Bossa Nova Civic Club.
As a volunteer, Eric serves as the President of the Board of TAK Ensemble, a 501(c)3 non-profit new music group, and is serving his third consecutive term as a member of the Kings County Democratic Committee, the governing body of the Democratic Party in Brooklyn.
Eric received Bachelors and Masters degrees in clarinet performance from Manhattan School of Music. He lives in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, and walks alongside his life partners John Richards of JACK Quartet and James Hirschfeld of the Howard Gilman Foundation.
